Tips for Tots

Drink ’em up! And don’t forget to tip your bartender . . .

Especially if that bartender is my friend, Rob the Bartender (a.k.a. RobDrinkenstein)!

For 14 years now, Rob has run an awesome philanthropic program, Tips for Tots, around the holidays, to give toys, food and clothing to many children and families who desperately need them. By donating all tips made during a shift, Rob and other food service workers that he has recruited have been able to raise over $33,000 and help over 8,500 people! He works closely with Salem, Oregon’s Union Gospel Mission and Mid Valley Women’s Crisis Service to make sure that specific needs of individuals and families in the community are being met- ensuring that Tips for Tots’ assistance has the most impact possible.

Tips for Tots - The Donating Drummer

Beginning tomorrow, Rob is contributing his earnings from four shifts at La Capitale in downtown Salem, on the evenings of December 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th. His 2011 goal: $3,000

• An anonymous donor has agreed to match his tips (up to $300!) on the night of Friday, December 2nd.

• TheDonatingDrummer has made Tips for Tots our December project to support, with a $150 donation. And I’ll likely be found sipping a Rum & Coke at LaCap on one or two of those nights!

• And, more importantly, YOU can help make this Christmas brighter for some Salem area kids and their parents in a couple of different ways:

– Dine and grab drinks at LaCapitale and/or Bar Andaluz in Salem on Dec. 1, 2, 3 & 5 (restaurant details below). Tip Rob well and say “Hi” for me!

– Contact Rob directly to make a donation: RobDrinkenstein.com / Facebook / Twitter

Keepin’ on rockin’

December officially marks the one year anniversary of TheDonatingDrummer!! It has been so much fun supporting the various projects that I’ve been able to over the past twelve months. As many of you know, each is made possible and funded through the money that I earn on one gig during that respective month.

Our Tips for Tots donation will come thanks to a gig I will playing on December 10th- a party at the luxurious Hotel Murano in Tacoma, Washington. To be honest, I have no clue what/who the party is even for (a holiday gala, perhaps??). But I do know that I’ll be rocking out with RockstarLive, a fun, super interactive show that brings audience members onstage to sing with a live band and fulfill their lifelong dreams of being rockstars!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Thank you . . .

. . . to everyone who has been passing TheDonatingDrummer along to your friends, coworkers, families, tweeps and FB followers. I appreciate all of your help!
