On The Road Again

Last month I mentioned one of the most rewarding parts of this project so far. This month I realized something that’s going to be one of the most difficult parts . . . deciding which submissions to support.

I received some really good ones this month and hope that: a) nobody gets too mad at me for not accepting theirs, and b) I’m still able to support some of them sometime soon.

Which leads to who we are going to help out this month, as well as the value of spreading the word about TheDonatingDrummer via Facebook. My good friend Jamie, of Propel Businessworks, happened to post about the site on her FB wall, which led her friend Gary, of SE Portland, Oregon, to check it out and submit an app!

I’ll let Gary tell you about his situation himself . . .

We blew up our minivan Christmas of 2009. We have been borrowing vehicles or using public transportation ever since because we refuse to go into debt anymore.

We were given a vehicle that needs some work, but we do not have the funds to fix it. If I buy the parts, a friend will help me do the work. Right now the car is sitting in our driveway because it needs lower control arms. Currently it is too dangerous to drive. It will need more work than this, but at least this will make it driveable.

Did I mention I’m self employed and attempting to do business on public transportation? Oh yeah, there’s that too.

Although there are several more submitted causes that I also wish I could support this month, after chatting with Gary by phone this afternoon, I feel that getting his car back-in-action fits well into TheDonatingDrummer’s goal of helping entrepreneurs move their own goals forward. It really sounds like my helping him is going to allow him to, in turn, help a heck of a lot of other people!

Thank you . . .

. . . to everyone who has been passing TheDonatingDrummer along to your friends, coworkers, families, tweeps and FB followers. I appreciate all of your help!
